HELPFUL TIPS ON HOW TO SAVE MONEY ON YOUR ELECTRIC BILL

  1. Install energy efficient lighting, such as LED or CFL (compact florescent lighting)

  2. Upgrade your appliances to new energy star rated appliances

  3. Insulate your home to keep out the heat in summer and the harsh winter cold

  4. Install Timers for all your outdoor lighting and pool equipment to reduce run time

  5. Set television timers to turn off the televisions ( if set is equipped)

  6. Shop for alternate energy suppliers they may be more competitive and help save you on your monthly energy bill

  7. Replace or repair loose or frayed cords on all electrical devices.

  8. Avoid running extension cords across doorways or under carpets.

  9. In homes with small children, electrical outlets should have plastic safety covers.

  10. Follow the manufacturer's instructions for plugging an appliance into a receptacle outlet.

  11. Avoid overloading outlets. Consider plugging only one high-wattage appliance into each receptacle outlet at a time.

  12. If outlets or switches feel warm, shut off the circuit and have them checked by an electrician.

  13. Don’t use electrical appliances such as hair dryers or radios in a wet place or near water.

  14. If power is lost during a storm, turn off or unplug electrical appliances so that there’s not a power surge when the electricity comes back on.
